What does the speed of light imply when time is reversed, specifically in respect to time dilation?

Mượn bài trên Quora để dịch khi nào rảnh.

Hypothetical: At the speed of light, time stops. Therefore, if we exceed the speed of light, time runs in reverse. The speed of light does not change. Remember, we are moving forward in space at the speed of light but the clock is running in reverse. Extreme time dilation. Halloa! Even hypothetically, this does not seem possible - moving forward in space but backwards in time?

Science: The speed of light is the Universal Speed Limit. This speed cannot be matched by any object if it posses the slightest rest mass. Today, the the only known massless particles are gauge bosons: the photon - carrier of electromagnetism, and the gluon - carrier of the strong force, always traveling at the speed of light.

According to the theories of relativity, Space and Time are all part of a single physical entity known as the SpaceTime Continuum. SpaceTime has four dimensions, corresponding to east-west, north-south, up-down, and past-future. SpaceTime is not moving - we are moving through it. We can move from east to west, north to south, and go up and down as well. But while we are moving in any direction we are always moving in 'time' from our past to our future – that is basically why space and time are linked, we can’t move through space without moving through time; in fact, even if we are not moving in space, we are moving in time - at the speed of light. This means, if we move faster in space, our movement in time is reduced proportionately. This will not show up at our day-to-day speeds, but when we hit speeds approaching the speed of light, it becomes evident. For example, if we were to travel at 99% of the speed of light for just one year, seven years would have elapsed on Earth!

We can move through time in one direction only - forward. Time cannot be reversed. For example, if a glass jar is dropped on hard ground, it will break into pieces. If 'time reversal' was possible, then we can make the broken pieces fly up from the ground and assemble into a glass jar; and if we do not stop the process in time, the glass jar will turn into sand. Well, you and I know that it is an impossibility.

So the answer to your question is that (a) extreme time dilation occurs at the speed of light when the clock stops. (b) there is no change in the speed of light, it remains constant (c) nothing can exceed the speed of light (d) time cannot be reversed.

Hope that helps!

THE EVIDENCE-BASED INVESTOR

https://www.evidenceinvestor.com/tag/j-krishnamurti/ J. Krishnamurti, one of the greatest teachers India has produced, writes this in his landmark book, Education and the Significance of Life: “The ignorant man is not the unlearned, but he who does not know himself, and the learned man is stupid when he relies on books, on knowledge and on authority to give him understanding. “Understanding comes only through self-knowledge, which is awareness of one’s total psychological process. “Thus education, in the true sense, is the understanding of oneself, for it is within each one of us that the whole of existence is gathered. What we now call education is a matter of accumulating information and knowledge from books, which anyone can do who can read. Such education offers a subtle form of escape from ourselves and, like all escapes, it inevitably creates increasing misery.”
